ARRIVAL of the BROOM!

It's here!! I ordered 'the broom' on Sunday, asking for 'Rust' (the spring colour) - with this note "I was torn between 'fall' colours & 'spring,' want a preponderance of rust, but a bit of other colours would be fine :) Blessings"

I returned from Deep Water Aerobics (first time I've gone this year) & it was by the door! Here it 'poses' with the dear old Brown Beauty, (worn & pale on the Left) 15-20 years of good service.
There's a handwritten blit 'see notes' on the invoice, & paler straws in the center.
"The tools, techniques and raw materials used to make our brooms are from an 1878 broom shop. They are made for use from the highest quality 100% broomcorn and kiln-dried hardwoods. They are noticeably more functional and durable than their commercial counterparts."
There's a leather loop for hanging at the top, & I've got a hook to mount on the wall; still hoping for an unusual dustpan to 'match.' There are a couple of antique shops in the area, some with these more mundane items.

The other day at Bi-Mart (which still carries some US made corn brooms!) I got this pot of 'daffydowndillies!' The ones in my yard are just starting to poke their noses out.

You can see some of my shelves & stacks in the background :) I have some ideas from the Creative Spaces book - back to the earlier thought of rearranging the 'dinning nook' for crafting! 3 hours till my first appointment - so a window for doing some shifting, & a bit of sweeping with my broom chant.LinkLink Or the simple one from 'Kindness' - "Remove all Dust, Remove all Dirt"

OOOOOOOOO! You got your new broom!! haha, only OLD women could get excited about a handmade broom, I think! :) It is lovely and so is your lovely "old" broom. she looks like she still has many good sweeps left too....so where did you end up getting her? could you leave me a note on my blog? else, I shall wander back later on....what sells me on this one is the leather hanging strap so I can hang her up and display her when I'm not sweeping, which truthfully I try to avoid if I can until ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY LIKE RIGHT NOW! it makes my muscles hurt ridiculously from my fibro... :(

also, while I'm being chatty, I absolutely love the book "where women create" and use it still ...I have had it at least a year+! It's a wonderfully inspiring book and, tho my space looks nothing like any of these passionate and beautifully decorated rooms, it's inspires me creatively just reading it...

blessings to you, dia, and thank you for your kind words about my she-Dragon! ;)

Yummy yellow daffodils - ohhhh, I cannot wait for spring!

broom??? I should look at the shape of my broom.
We have nothing poking out of the ground yet and I don't think anything for sometime still got a good foot of snow on the ground.

Coffee is on.

I don't think I've ever been excited over a broom before... but that has now just changed. With a bella broom like yours, I would be a sweeping Cinderella, hehe.

Happy cleaning (and admiring of your new tool)!

The broom ROCKS! I LOVE it so much! What an absolute treasure and beauty, stunning. And thank you also for the fantastic bday wishes. I hope I start seeing flowers blooming early this year. I need to see yellow again.

Ooooh, that is THE best looking broom I ever did see! I went over to check out the BroomMagic link, because I want one too, and was very happy to see that they're not only handmade, lovely, and way better than the average broom, but totally affordable!

Wow, who would thought a broom could be so lovely?! Glad you found a "matching" dust pan. I can't wait to see your knitted sleeves. What a great idea!
